And he took the cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them and they all drank of it. And he said unto them, This is in remembrance of my blood, which is shed for many, and the new covenant which I give unto you;
Mark 7:6

The manner of administering the wine. Behold, they took the cup and said, O God the Eternal Father, we ask thee in the name of thy Son Jesus Christ to bless and sanctify this wine to the souls of all those who drink of it, that they may do it in remembrance of the blood of thy Son, which was shed for them, that they may witness unto thee, O God the Eternal Father, that they do always remember him, that they may have his spirit to be with them. Amen. 
Moroni 5:1

Behold, verily thus says the Lord unto you: In consequence of evils and designs which will exist in the hearts of conspiring men in the last days, I have warned you and forewarned you, by giving unto you this word of Wisdom by revelation, that inasmuch as any man drinks wine or strong drink among you, behold, it is not good, neither meet in the sight of your Father, only in assembling yourselves in your sacraments before him. And behold, this should be wine of your own make.

Types of Alcohol

All drinking alcohol involves a process where sugar (or sucrose C12H22O11) is converted in to ethanol (CH3-CH2OH).  

It's OK to drink alcohol

He causes the grass to grow for the cattle, and herb for the service of man that he may bring forth food out of the Earth, and wine that makes glad the heart of man, and oil to make his face to shine, and bread which strengthens man’s heart. OC Psalm 104:3

Drink no longer water, but use a little wine for your stomach’s sake and your often infirmities.

NC 1 Tim 1:15

Go your way, eat your bread with joy, and drink your wine with a merry heart; for God now accepts your works. 1 Eccl 1:39

Sober:

Make or become more serious, sensible, and solemn, somber, restrained, subdued, severe, austere

Don't go overboard

When you walked in lasciviousness, lusts, excess of wine, revelings, banquetings, and abominable idolatries, wherein they speak evil of you. NC 1 Peter 1:5

It is good neither to eat flesh, nor to drink wine, nor anything whereby your brother stumbles, or is offended, or is made weak.  NC Romans 1:72

 

Wherefore be not unwise, but understanding what is the will of the Lord. And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess, but be filled with the Spirit… NC Ephesians 1:19

Wine: a mocker; strong drink: raging; and whoever is deceived thereby is not wise. OC Proverbs 2:299

Let us walk honestly, as in the day; not in rioting and drunkenness, not in bedding and wantonness, not in strife and envying. NC Romans 1:66
